Mr. Beer Premium Gold Edition Home Brew Kit Mr. Beer Premium Gold Edition Home Brew Kit

The moment my husband caught a glimpse of it, he was as excited as a little kid in a toy and candy store! He was telling everyone (friends, family, and co-workers) about it and soon had his brother over to begin brewing the first batch. A few weeks later we all got to try the best beer ever: a crisp, refreshing Blond Ale Lager! Right now we have the 2nd batch going of Cowboy Golden Lager and it's in the fermentation process- it's really cool to see the whole process from the amber-colored jug it comes with. Right now we're seeing the yeast rise and bubble on top- it's really cool!! Soon it will begin dissolving and marrying into the liquid to begin turning into BEER!! It's fun seeing how the guys always check it out when they come over- really good male bonding I think. ;) The kit even comes with monthly coupons for the first year to keep 'em brewing- and it really is not expensive at about $10 to brew 2 gallons. And after shopping around and researching for a beer brewing kit last year to find other ones that were very expensive (around $100 for starter kits), this one was affordable, had great reviews, gave you a "bang for your buck", and is user-friendly. I highly recommend it. Judging on my husband's reaction and how he lovingly told me he constantly keeps thinking "I have the best wife ever", this deserves 5 Stars!!!!!

I agree with another reviewer in that this is much more like a toy. i was surprised that the keg and bottles were plastic. the 'keg' looked like what would be around a St Bernards neck. It is very hard to take this product seriously and even more so to think that the keg and bottles will be lasting, and not fall to ruin in short order. Considering the tackiness of the kit, i feel that is is way overpriced and that there are much better ways to go; ways that give greater value over the long run. But, the important concern, the taste. I was quite disappointed in the beer quality that was made from this kit, with a 10-high rating, this beer would be but a grudging 5. As an aside, while one should not really have to contact their customer service; I did, and with lasting regrets and would avoid doing that again...better to buy elsewhere I think.

This was a gift and the recipient immediately went to work mixing and setting up the Mr. Beer unit. He is quite happy with the ease of preparation and is happily awaiting the outcome! Good quality unit, parts all there...we are pleased with the purchaseMr. Beer Premium Gold Edition Home Brew Kit

This Kit is a great starter kit or great as second kit to try new beer recipes. We bought this kit to try new recipes without to fill our 7gallon keg. Great Gift Idea for friends and family who enjoy to drink a good beer.

It took an hour or so to start off, but it went well. I have the wort in the keg and I assume it is fermenting nicely. In two weeks I will transfer to the bottles. Everything seems decent in quality, nothing professional, but its a cheap fun way to start brewing beer. I will update later if I can figure out how once the beer is done. update 12/26: The brew came out about a two weeks ago, I left it in the keg for 2 weeks and it has been in the bottles since. I drank a few of them in the past week (today they have been in the bottles for a little over 3 weeks) and they taste great. The bottling process was not difficult at all and I am impressed with how well this beer came out, it is much better than I expected for a cheap home beer kit. If you want to try to brew your own beer I would definitely recommend this kit.

IF you follow the directions provided with the kit you will be pleasantly surprised that you can make a quality home brew in a relatively short time. In my experience, however, the advertised "Quality Home Brew in 14-days" is a relative possibility appreciated by few. Most users find that if you leave the brew "wort" in the keg for 14-days, carbonate according to instructions for another 14 days, and age for another 14-days, that you will find a far superior beer compared to 7-days in the keg and 7 days carbonating. The end result is a beer that gives the satisfaction of having done it yourself, and the ability to learn how to brew and even adjust your recipes. The Mr Beer website has a forum that will answer any question you may have. If you're a beginner, and you want to start off inexpensively and easily, Mr Beer can't be beat. With the deluxe kit you will have to provide 14 dark plastic soda bottles with caps. Any PET plastic bottle that has held a carbonated drink will suffice. Happy Brewing!

I bought the Mr. Beer Kit this spring and have not been disappointed with it at all. The ingredients that arrived with the kit were a can of West Coast Pale ale along with one step sanitizer, a package of booster and the brewing yeast packed beneath the lid of the West Coast Pale Ale extract. The kit also included plastic bottles, brew keg and lid, spigot, bottle caps, instructions -- everything you need for that first batch. I would suggest that you leave the beer in the keg for at least 10 days and in the bottle for 2 weeks before consuming. I was impatient the first time and followed their suggestion and tried the beer after one week in the keg and one more week in the bottle -- NOT A GOOD IDEA! The beer WAS fruity tasting - almost like a fizzy cider. Taste did improve after I left the remaining alone for another week or 2. Be patient: the end product is much more carbonated and tastier if you let it ferment a week longer and let it sit in the bottle for at least 2 weeks -- cool it in the fridge for a couple more weeks, too, if you can wait that long. I liked the results so much that I joined the brew club and have ingredients shipped (free shipping for club members) every 3 months. I've brewed their Canadian Draft with a Pale Export unhopped malt extract twice, St. Patrick's Irish Stout with Mellow Amber unhopped malt extract, and a Weisenbier with the included booster pack and an added 15 ounce can of apricots in light syrup (from the local supermarket). Each batch resulted in an excellent, good tasting brew. I like the end result so much that I prefer my home brew to store bought. When and if you decide to purchase this kit make sure to follow directions, sanitize everything that comes in contact with your wort, and be patient and let the beer ferment and condition for a bit longer than Mr. Beer recommends. You will not be disappointed. I like this kit because it produces a nice, drinkable brew in a manageable quantity. If you're thinking of trying home brewing this is the kit for you -- its a good starting point, and you can always upgrade to an extra brew keg!

this kit is verry simple to use i have one other prior to this and the beer it makes is okay its preaty good and if your like me and dont drink alot then this kit for you cause it dose take a while to make the good beer but its fairly cheapy and there are so many flavors to try

Have made 3 2 gallon batches of great tasting beer - West Coast Pale Ale, High Country Canadian Draft, and Octoberfest Vienna Lager. The process is as easy as making soup and as fun as making cookies. Just make sure to sanitize everything and follow the directions. The only problem is that I no longer want nor can tolerate the bad taste of most bottled commercial beer.

I got this for a birthday present for my husband. He already had one just like it, so I picked him up a second one so he could have a batch going all the time. THe kit is a very good deal because it comes with everything you need. Think about buying 2. No, it isn't like totally 'from scratch' brewing but according to my picky husband, who won't drink much but expensive imported beer, it's really good beer.

Mr. Root Beer Home Root Beer Kit Mr. Root Beer Home Root Beer Kit

The Mr. Root Beer kit is very simple and comes with everything you need to make your own root beer. Our first attempt at making the root beer went well, but we put it in the fridge just a bit too soon. The flavor is great, but by putting it in too soon it isn't hardly carbonated at all. Next time around we know a little better what to expect, so it should be even better!

The first one arrived right on time for Christmas. It was super fast shipping, especially since I only ordered it like 3 business days before the holiday, however; all the powder packages inside were busted and all over the place inside the box. Nothing was usable. I contacted Amazon a replacement product was received the very next day. So that was super cool. I can't blame Amazon for the damaged product. I'm guessing UPS messed it up. Great fix Amazon. I am still a happy customer.

This product was easy to use and lots of fun ... and believe it or not the final product actually tastes GREAT! A must-buy for any family adventure.

Bought for the kids to have something to do as I am a homebrewer myself. They learn some science and also how to follow directions and the importance sterilization during the mixing process. The root beer tastes great. If you follow the instructions to the T it is carbonated and tastes fantastic. They will have fun making their 2nd batch.

I bought this kit for my 7-year old nephew who likes science and root beer. He was SOOO excited, and we had a lot of fun doing it together. Like other reviewers, our first batch came out too flat, but tasted good. We're going to try another batch and see if we can get more carbonation. He is already planning his "root beer stand" to sell frothy mugs to the neighbors. Highly recommended! (Update 12/09: our second batch was perfect--much fizzier. We left the bottles somewhere less chilly to ferment for 3 days, and then transferred them to the fridge when they were firm to the touch.)
