Mr. Beer Premium Gold Edition Home Brew Kit Mr. Beer Premium Gold Edition Home Brew Kit

The moment my husband caught a glimpse of it, he was as excited as a little kid in a toy and candy store! He was telling everyone (friends, family, and co-workers) about it and soon had his brother over to begin brewing the first batch. A few weeks later we all got to try the best beer ever: a crisp, refreshing Blond Ale Lager! Right now we have the 2nd batch going of Cowboy Golden Lager and it's in the fermentation process- it's really cool to see the whole process from the amber-colored jug it comes with. Right now we're seeing the yeast rise and bubble on top- it's really cool!! Soon it will begin dissolving and marrying into the liquid to begin turning into BEER!! It's fun seeing how the guys always check it out when they come over- really good male bonding I think. ;) The kit even comes with monthly coupons for the first year to keep 'em brewing- and it really is not expensive at about $10 to brew 2 gallons. And after shopping around and researching for a beer brewing kit last year to find other ones that were very expensive (around $100 for starter kits), this one was affordable, had great reviews, gave you a "bang for your buck", and is user-friendly. I highly recommend it. Judging on my husband's reaction and how he lovingly told me he constantly keeps thinking "I have the best wife ever", this deserves 5 Stars!!!!!

I agree with another reviewer in that this is much more like a toy. i was surprised that the keg and bottles were plastic. the 'keg' looked like what would be around a St Bernards neck. It is very hard to take this product seriously and even more so to think that the keg and bottles will be lasting, and not fall to ruin in short order. Considering the tackiness of the kit, i feel that is is way overpriced and that there are much better ways to go; ways that give greater value over the long run. But, the important concern, the taste. I was quite disappointed in the beer quality that was made from this kit, with a 10-high rating, this beer would be but a grudging 5. As an aside, while one should not really have to contact their customer service; I did, and with lasting regrets and would avoid doing that again...better to buy elsewhere I think.

This was a gift and the recipient immediately went to work mixing and setting up the Mr. Beer unit. He is quite happy with the ease of preparation and is happily awaiting the outcome! Good quality unit, parts all there...we are pleased with the purchaseMr. Beer Premium Gold Edition Home Brew Kit

This Kit is a great starter kit or great as second kit to try new beer recipes. We bought this kit to try new recipes without to fill our 7gallon keg. Great Gift Idea for friends and family who enjoy to drink a good beer.

It took an hour or so to start off, but it went well. I have the wort in the keg and I assume it is fermenting nicely. In two weeks I will transfer to the bottles. Everything seems decent in quality, nothing professional, but its a cheap fun way to start brewing beer. I will update later if I can figure out how once the beer is done. update 12/26: The brew came out about a two weeks ago, I left it in the keg for 2 weeks and it has been in the bottles since. I drank a few of them in the past week (today they have been in the bottles for a little over 3 weeks) and they taste great. The bottling process was not difficult at all and I am impressed with how well this beer came out, it is much better than I expected for a cheap home beer kit. If you want to try to brew your own beer I would definitely recommend this kit.

Mr. Beer St. Patrick's Irish Stout Refill Brew Pack Mr. Beer St. Patrick's Irish Stout Refill Brew Pack

I waited for my Mr. Beer St. Patrick's Irish Stout to fully condition and tried it before writing a review on this Refill Brew Pack. First of all, if you brewed this refill pack "as is" using the Irish Stout hopped malt extract and the Booster (dextrose), and you will get a pretty good, albeit light beer with an estimated 3.7% ABV. However, if you added the Creamy Brown unhopped malt extract (available at mrbeer.com), you'll get a much more flavorful and delicious beer. For this batch, I included the Irish Stout HME, Creamy Brown UME, Booster, and a cup of honey to boost up the alcohol by volume to 6.9%. I let the beer ferment for three weeks at room temperature and carbonate in the bottles for 5 weeks. The beer had the color of black coffee, had nice carbonation, and tasted great! The refill pack sold here can be used as a base for many recipes available on Mr. Beer's website. Happy brewing!

Costs about a $1/glass. In these recessionary times, one can save alot of $. In a bar, you pay $3-4/glass, $1 for some music, and have to tip the bartender???!!!

This made a very, very good beer. It even got rave reviews from friends I shared it with--not that I wanted to share much of it once I got a taste! *heh* A little less "stout" than some stouts I've had, but still really robust and full of flavor.

I love beer. When I started brewing by myself with Mr. Beer I was afraid my beer would not taste good. Well, my beer tastes very good and this dark beer is one of my favorites. I certainly recommend it!

I didn't realize the alcohol content was only 3.5%... Kind of makes the time to process a bit annoying. Very easy to make though!

Mr. Beer Octoberfest's Vienna Lager Refill Brew Pack Mr. Beer Octoberfest's Vienna Lager Refill Brew Pack

I was born and raised in Germany and this is an excellent German Beer. Add a tbs brown sugar in the keg, let it stand one week longer and you will have an excellent german beer.

I am absolutely shocked that this beer is so good. I have not been able to find a beer like this since 1975 at a little gasthaus on top of a hill outside Frankfurt, Germany. Everyone that tried it agreed that it was an amazing beer. Ridiculously amazing beer, let it age an extra week and it is even better!!! Don't go through all of the complicated steps others suggest, just follow the instructions, give it an extra week and you to will be amazed at the quality and flavor of this beer...we added a 1/2 cup of sugar in the ferminter in one batch for extra alcohol and well...watch out, it had quite a kick!

Makes a medium dark beer. It's not a true lager, because the yeast cultures at a higher temp, but it certainly makes a good beer. Small note: I "proofed" the yeast separately in some warm water in the can with leftover mix; ALL the water in a large pot with the mix, brought up to temp, stirred well and then left the wort to cool to ~100 degrees Fahrenheit before pouring into the brew keg and pitching the yeast. It was ready to bottle condition eight days later. Note: I've gotten consistently better bottle conditioning when using my "collection" of Grolsch swingtop bottles. Recommended. (Besides, they bottle 16oz instead of 12... :-))
