Mr. Beer Deluxe Edition Home Microbrewery SystemReviewsIF you follow the directions provided with the kit you will be pleasantly surprised that you can make a quality home brew in a relatively short time. In my experience, however, the advertised "Quality Home Brew in 14-days" is a relative possibility appreciated by few. Most users find that if you leave the brew "wort" in the keg for 14-days, carbonate according to instructions for another 14 days, and age for another 14-days, that you will find a far superior beer compared to 7-days in the keg and 7 days carbonating. The end result is a beer that gives the satisfaction of having done it yourself, and the ability to learn how to brew and even adjust your recipes. The Mr Beer website has a forum that will answer any question you may have. If you're a beginner, and you want to start off inexpensively and easily, Mr Beer can't be beat. With the deluxe kit you will have to provide 14 dark plastic soda bottles with caps. Any PET plastic bottle that has held a carbonated drink will suffice. Happy Brewing! I bought the Mr. Beer Kit this spring and have not been disappointed with it at all. The ingredients that arrived with the kit were a can of West Coast Pale ale along with one step sanitizer, a package of booster and the brewing yeast packed beneath the lid of the West Coast Pale Ale extract. The kit also included plastic bottles, brew keg and lid, spigot, bottle caps, instructions -- everything you need for that first batch. I would suggest that you leave the beer in the keg for at least 10 days and in the bottle for 2 weeks before consuming. I was impatient the first time and followed their suggestion and tried the beer after one week in the keg and one more week in the bottle -- NOT A GOOD IDEA! The beer WAS fruity tasting - almost like a fizzy cider. Taste did improve after I left the remaining alone for another week or 2. Be patient: the end product is much more carbonated and tastier if you let it ferment a week longer and let it sit in the bottle for at least 2 weeks -- cool it in the fridge for a couple more weeks, too, if you can wait that long. I liked the results so much that I joined the brew club and have ingredients shipped (free shipping for club members) every 3 months. I've brewed their Canadian Draft with a Pale Export unhopped malt extract twice, St. Patrick's Irish Stout with Mellow Amber unhopped malt extract, and a Weisenbier with the included booster pack and an added 15 ounce can of apricots in light syrup (from the local supermarket). Each batch resulted in an excellent, good tasting brew. I like the end result so much that I prefer my home brew to store bought. When and if you decide to purchase this kit make sure to follow directions, sanitize everything that comes in contact with your wort, and be patient and let the beer ferment and condition for a bit longer than Mr. Beer recommends. You will not be disappointed. I like this kit because it produces a nice, drinkable brew in a manageable quantity. If you're thinking of trying home brewing this is the kit for you -- its a good starting point, and you can always upgrade to an extra brew keg! this kit is verry simple to use i have one other prior to this and the beer it makes is okay its preaty good and if your like me and dont drink alot then this kit for you cause it dose take a while to make the good beer but its fairly cheapy and there are so many flavors to try Have made 3 2 gallon batches of great tasting beer - West Coast Pale Ale, High Country Canadian Draft, and Octoberfest Vienna Lager. The process is as easy as making soup and as fun as making cookies. Just make sure to sanitize everything and follow the directions. The only problem is that I no longer want nor can tolerate the bad taste of most bottled commercial beer. I got this for a birthday present for my husband. He already had one just like it, so I picked him up a second one so he could have a batch going all the time. THe kit is a very good deal because it comes with everything you need. Think about buying 2. No, it isn't like totally 'from scratch' brewing but according to my picky husband, who won't drink much but expensive imported beer, it's really good beer. Mr. Beer Premium Edition Home Microbrewery SystemReviewsI got Mr. Beer for my husband and he loves it! Just follow some simple directions, wait a couple weeks, and you end up with beer you made yourself. There are many different varieties to try and you can find recipes to make many more. I bought this for my husband last year for Christmas and he finally got around to brewing it a few months ago. Great stuff! We had the lager, I think, and it was pretty good. He asked for refill brew stuff and I ordered extra bottles to keep the supply stocked! We live in PA where the beer laws are ridiculous and they only sell cases at enormous prices so it's nice to have this alternative. Great product, easy to use and produces great results. I have brewd 3 batches of beer with this kit, and all have been great tasting and easy to make. This kit is a great way to start Home brewing. Mr Beer offers lots of online Recipies and brewing supplies to go beyond basic brews. I like the 2 gallon brew keg, because it is easy to keep it on the counter in the kitchen without taking up a ton of space. Highly Recomended 5 stars In addition to the Mr. Beer Premium Gold Edition Home Brew Kit, I also purchased the Mr. Beer Premium Edition Home Microbrewery System. The only difference between the Gold Edition is that the former has two Brew Packs instead of one. This edition is the mid-level offering. In my opinion, it's the most value packed one because in addition to your first Brew Pack, it also comes with 8 1-liter plastic bottles and caps. As a beginning home brewer, I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on an elaborate home brew kit nor have to read tons of books on how to do it. My goal was to try it, and if I liked the finished product, play with it some more. Well, after my first two batches of Mr. Beer brew, a lager and a pale ale, I can attest to the simplicity and convenience of this product. The beer making process was somewhat simple. I followed the directions that came with the kit about sanitizing, brewing, bottling, and conditioning almost to the letter. Almost anyone with a high school reading level can make their own beer using a Mr. Beer kit without terribly screwing anything up. The beer that is fermenting in the Mr. Beer keg doesn't make your entire house reek of a micro-brewery. As a matter of fact, the only time you do smell beer is when you're preparing the wort and when bottling. Although I'm not really a fan of the light beers, I was quite happy with my first couple batches of home brew and have subsequently ordered more Mr. Beer refills from Amazon. If you want fast, effort-less beer, visit BevMo! My own bit of advice to getting optimal flavor in your brew is to be patient. Let the beer brew (ferment) in the keg for two weeks to give it favor and alcohol content. Then after bottling, let it sit for two more weeks to fully carbonate. Finally, let it chill in the refrigerator for 2 weeks before enjoying your home brew. It's the 2-2-2 rule! Bottoms up! Rather than using glass bottles, which probably look better and feel more like beer in your hands, I prefer to use the plastic bottles. I think plastics are easier to clean, not prone to bursting or breaking like glass, and you can easily tell if your beer is fully carbonated by squeezing the bottle. Since this brew kit only came with 8 1-Liter bottles and I had multiple fermenters, I needed to get more bottles! Rather than paying $14.99 for the Mr. Beer empty bottles on Amazon, I decided to buy the 16 oz. plastic 7-Up bottles instead. One Mr. Beer fermenter will yield 16 of the 16 oz. bottles of beer. As long as you use plastic bottles made to hold carbonated beverages, you can use it to bottle your Mr. Beer home brew. If you want to use the smaller 12 oz. soda bottles, you will require 21 12 oz. bottles for your 2 gallon batch of Mr. Beer. My only complaint is that Amazon doesn't sell the other ingredients nor accessories sold only on the Mr. Beer website, such as the Unhopped Malt Extract which allows you to add additional flavor, body, alcohol and malt characteristics to your beer. However, you have to pay quite a bit for shipping, and you only get free shipping if your order totals $99. However, with their Brew Club, members get $5 shipping on all club orders over $29.99. Happy green brewing! I should probably wait until I use this product to review, so I may come back and edit my review after the fact. I just wanted to say that I've gotten a LOT of great tips from the commenters on this site. I will use unhopped liquid malt instead of the booster and liquid yeast instead of the dry. I will buy the swing top glass bottles for sure. My first batch is going to be an Octoberfest Cream Ale and I may add some brown sugar or chocolate to it. The possibilities are endless! The product arrived VERY quickly. I just ordered it 4 days ago--no joke! And everything was perfect. It was not dusty or broken or missing any parts. The book that came with the product was really nice too. I am new to making beer so I liked how the book broke down what each ingredient did and how it explained the history of beer making. The book also contains really great recipes!! The Mr Beer website is really helpful too. These guys truly love the beer making process and it shows! My husband is very excited that I am embarking on this new hobby. Imagine making beer for your friends instead of buying them presents! At this great price and in this economy, it seems crazy to NOT buy one of these kits. Keep up the great tips on here, commenters! They are greatly appreciated. Average Rating:![]() |

Mr Beer, Brewmaster's Select Beer KitReviewsAt first I was skeptical about this kit because I had a similiar one a few years ago that gave disappointing results. However, the Mr. Beer brewmaster kit made a pleasantly surprising good batch of home brew on the first attempt. This was the American Devil IPA premium. I even "cheated" by only fermenting for 10 days and carbonated for 10 days where the instructions recommended 14 days for each. My connoisseur friends on this subject really enjoyed this IPA batch as well. That was the icing on the cake for me. So, I'm very excited to continue brewing with this kit. As I write this, I have my second batch carbonating in the bottles and my third and fourth batches fermenting. I bought another fermenter from Mr. Beer directly so that I may have at least two batches in the rotation at a time. The hardest part is waiting for it to become "drinkable". That reminds me, I'm parched. Time for a cold one. Cheers! This was a simple to use system and brewed great beer although I found it tasted better onced bottled and sitting almost 8-weeks.
