Coopers Brewery Micro Brewery KitReviewsI got the coopers microbrewery kit for Xmas, I have brewed 5 batches, all have been good but one, and that was my fault(used tap water, mine is way too chlorinated).I buy the coopers kit or the Muntons kit at local home brew supply for around 15$ I don't use sugar any more, I buy dry malt extact for about $7 and better yeast about $2. 6 gallons of great tasting beer for under $25 bucks. cheaper then getting the coopers kits online. I was a little nervous at my first attempt making home brew. I couldn't believe how easy it was. The directions in the instruction manual were simple enough, but with the video that comes with the kit, it can't get any easier. (I do recommend watching the video before getting started, it visually reinforces what the instruction manual has to say). My girlfriend was with me watching the process go down. I think I was in the kitchen for a little over an hour - mostly prepping, cleaning and sanitizing. (Incredibly important). About a month later I'm sharing my homebrew with my friends to their delight. This micro brewery system rocks, and is a great introduction to home brewing. 5 stars all the way, you have my recommendation! Oh yeah, I just ordered the Wheat beer kit. Can't wait! Cheers! I got this kit for Christmas in 2008 and have made about 5 or 6 batches of beer since, with never a failed batch. The equipment is top-notch. The fermenter is made of sturdy food-grade plastic; it's easy to clean and sanitize if you follow the instructions, and is made to last. The seals work well and the kit comes with a decent air lock. The bottles are sturdy as well, and use the same standard size screw-on caps as in the U.S. Bottling can be a bit messy (there's always a little dripping from the bottler in between bottles) but putting a tray underneath while bottling solves that. The kit also comes with a decent hydrometer so you can measure alcohol content and watch the fermentation progress. So far I've stuck with the Cooper's pre-made worts, and they've been great. If you buy them at a local store, make sure to check the bottom for the use-by date (the yeast can go bad) and make sure you realize that the printed date uses the Australian format (e.g. day.month.year, not month/day/year). I've never been sent an outdated can when ordering from Amazon. I am so glad we purchased this kit. It's a great way to get into brewing your own beers at home. The "hopped" extract included is okay and is good to use for your first attempt at making beer but what's great is the incredibly large fermenting jug this thing comes with. We now go to our local beer brewing store for our own hops, grains, etc. We're now making our own beer from scratch and still use the fermenting jug in this kit. This kit is worth it for the fermenting jug alone. I bought this kit for my daughter and her husband. They were thrilled with the prospect of making their own beer and had been thinking of doing it for some time. They loved the kit and how simple it was and how well explained everything was. Time will tell if they like the beer, as well--I (and they) are assuming they will. Average Rating:![]() |
